Seasons change

Seasons change, I am missing winter which I used to detest initially.

Went to a Watertown called "Tong Li" in Suzhou on saturday. Took a pic (right half of the photo below). Isn't Suzhou - Venice of the East - nice?

My days here are numbered.

全国默哀3分钟

The whole of China is in a state of mourning for 3 minutes today, a week after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake hit Qinghai province, resulting in loss of lives of some 5,000 people.

All entertainment and services were suspended during the mourning.

This morning when I started using the Internet, the homepage (baidu search engine) was purely black and white. I thought there was something wrong with my monitor and I kept wondering what's wrong. Then people told me it was also in a state of mourning.

At roy's house, I tried to switch the tv programme. But somehow the next channel, next next channel, and next next next channel were all repeating the news on mourning. Then we came to realise it was due to the mourning.

As the whole state went under a sombre mourning session, us Singaporeans abroad unite together for the wrong purpose - to have nasi lemak and vegetable curry OMG! I miss nasi lemak so much.

Season change

Went jogging outdoor after work today... in t-shirt and shorts. Season has changed!

Jogged with hl to 金鸡湖 (golden chicken lake haha) before ending up in In City for dinner at Saizeria. Had mushroom spaghetti for 12 yuan and a mini mineral water for 3 yuan.

Lazy weekend

Spent a lazy weekend. Yesterday's class was cancelled because instructor was sick. We reached the class and waited for 45 minutes. The instructor did not turn up. So we called up the school coordinator who came in later to inform us.

So I head to guan qian street and gone ktv with my china friend before returning home to steam my fish.

Breathless!

This is the first time I cooked my own fish. Nice... Cos I put alot of ginger to cover up the fishy smell, squeezed lemon and tomatoes, soy sauce, and rub with salt to marinate it.

While marinating-in-process, I put on my trunks and dipped into the pool at the indoor swimming complex opposite my apartment. Since this is my first visit, I had to go for the so-called physical examination in the medical room just located at the entrance.

When I entered the medical room, I was asked to just sit down and look at the camera. That doctor just took my face pic and issued me a record card certifying that I am free from health and skin diseases.

For once I didn't know China is so high-tech. Just by taking a face pic alone will know whether I am free from health defects. 3 yuan for taking that face pic. Another 35 yuan to enter the pool which I thought was heated water, to realise only the shower is heated.

Nevertheless, I swam a few laps in order to make my money worth. But the longer I swam, the colder I became. I did not understand why.

This morning I had brunch with wl, hl, roy and 2 other friends from shanghai at Saizeria restaurant, at a nearby shopping centre. Ate bacon and pineapple pizza for only 20 rmb. But my tiramisu ice cream from Iceason costs a whopping 30 rmb. Had coconut sago dessert for 20 rmb.

Spent another 59 rmb on a sports pants before returning home.

Should have stayed home instead.

Back from Qingdao, Taishan and Shanghai

Qing Ming Festival is so fast over. Got public holiday off, so I went sightseeing in Qingdao, climbed Mount Taishan and shopped in Shanghai with mum and sis.

Now I am having post-holiday blues, because 9 days have whizzed past so quickly!

Qingdao can be a good summer destination, owing to its beaches.

Mount Taishan has a very steep inclination, unlike other mountains I have climbed before.

Shanghai is just like Hong Kong, although on a much larger scale, so I love it!

Shall post my photos later.

Half-drunk

Went Jin Ji Lake 金鸡湖 and saw that there was a musical fountain on display. Reminded me of sentosa, although sentosa's songs of the sea is much more spectacular.

Had a drink at Maple Bar. Lemon vodka, long island tea and flaming lambo really made me half-drunk now.

Flaming lambo
Lights off, please.

BBQ buffet dinner

Went bbq dinner with colleagues after work yesterday. Nice, price even nicer at only 33 yuan per pax. But I kept eating pears so as to reduce heatiness.

Over 200 sticks for the 4 of us

I will hate bbq-ing in Singapore from now on, because the weather is too hot.
